Lights Out, Words Gone

So this was my sleeve design for the Secret 7” project. It was inspired by the song Lights Out, Words Gone by Bombay Bicycle Club.

This project was put together by Kevin King from Universal Records.

Seven bands (The Cure, Florence & The Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, CSS, DJ Shadow, Noah & The Whale and Ben Howard) chose one of their tracks and released it as a limited edition of 100 singles on 7” vinyl. Each of the 700 sleeves would be unique. They were created by creatives and music enthusiasts across the world, inspired by the chosen song. There was even one designed by Robert Smith himself!

None of the covers were labelled so you wouldn’t know who designed each one of them, or which of the seven tracks was housed inside until you’d buy it and take it home.

An exhibition was held at Idea Generation Gallery, in London, in April 2012, where these records were sold off to the public with all the proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

A big thank-you to everyone who bought a record. Especially to whoever bought the one that I designed :)

A couple of photos of the Say Anything Exhibition

The Say Anything [Interview + Illustration] Project took place two weeks ago in Tampa, Florida.

I couldn’t be there in person but at least I’m enjoying these nice photos that Ciera Fedock took at the exhibition.

Did you spot my illustration?

Secret 7”

Just received my pack from Secret 7”, an exciting project combining music and art, all in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

“In April the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch, London will exhibit around 700 unique seven-inch sleeves inspired by tracks from The Cure, Florence + The Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, CSS, DJ Shadow, Noah & The Whale and Ben Howard. The exhibition has an added air of mystery as no-one will know who designed each sleeve, or which of our seven tracks is housed inside.”

“Every penny profited from the sale of these exclusive vinyl records is going to Teenage Cancer Trust.”

(Quoted from www.secret-7.com)

Can’t wait to start drawing on this 7” blank canvas.
